We were honored to have Sarah Hobbs, President of the Cayman Islands Bankers Association, and Vice President and Country Head, Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd. participate in the recent Chamber of Commerce Economic Forum held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa.
The panel discussion titled “Where to next: a look at how our economy is shaping up in three key areas and where we are headed over the medium term,” featured panelists Dan DeFinis, President of the Cayman Contractors Association and Chamber Council Member, Sarah Hobbs, President of the Cayman Islands Bankers Association, Charlie Kirkconnell, CEO of Cayman Enterprise City, and moderator Paul Byles, Director at FTS and Past President of the Chamber of Commerce. The forum provided a platform to delve into crucial aspects shaping our economic landscape.
The discussions were comprehensive, exploring trends, insights, and developments that will define the Cayman Islands in 2024 and beyond. The event served as a valuable opportunity for industry and government leaders to come together and exchange ideas on creating a sustainable economy.

As part of the discussion Sarah emphasised the resilience and strength of the Cayman Islands economy saying, “Cayman is not only one of the most beautiful places to live, we are a powerhouse jurisdiction. The Cayman economy has demonstrated that it can be resilient through multiple economic cycles. This is not something that happens by coincidence; it happens because of the hard work, innovation, and partnership between private and public sectors we’ve seen on display today.”
